It’s not an all-time low.
Trust me,
it’s something more beautiful than that.
For the first time in years,
I feel bound by no walls.
No longer afraid to write with ink,
you’ve been a helpful bookmark,
not to mention the subject,
for the chapter of my existence
that outlines when I was happiest.
It’s not exactly easy for me either.
You write such mesmerizing melodies
that drown out the cries that keep me awake at night
writing down poems much like this one
That I’ll show you someday.
We’re not very different,
you and I.
But you’ve accepted that we can never be,
and I refuse to trust your judgment.
This broken heart won’t fix itself.

I’ll try to find some patience.

I know I gave up that kiss a long time ago,
but it doesn’t belong to him.
My distraction doesn’t love me like
he loves you.
And my distraction would never ever
for fear she may allow herself to become
something more than an enigma.
You were always so content
with losing yourself
in something bigger but not
better than you.
I hope he makes you happy.
I hope you know that until now,
none of my poems have ever been
longer than one page.
I hope he makes you feel alive.
I hope you compare him to me
and fail to realize you’re better off
without me.
I hope you’ll fight for me.

My Garden State Girl
Titled: My garden state girl
Subtitled: (I Told a Girl this Poem Was About Her [When it Actually Wasn’t,] to Get in Her Pants.)
It’s almost like the second
I decided I was happy to leave Jersey,
she crept behind me
whispering and whimpering.
“Why?” she sobbed
as I didn’t return the grip
and I let her hand slide off of mine.
Just go.
It reminded me of when she told me
to “take it back” as she tried to
hold me one last time.
It gives me chills to even think about.
I thought that skin could somehow be thicker
in a different district
and that I could shake off the dust
of what I used to be.
None of them know what happened.
God, I miss her so much.
Both New Jersey and my favorite resident.
And it’s almost like the second
I decided I was happy to leave that girl,
my mind—pale and wintered into a bleak,
disgusting, frightening shell
remembered that she was my best friend.
My sweet, forgiving garden state:
I promise not to make the same mistake twice.
I swear on every exit sign,
I’ll never let you down,
and I swear on every evergreen,
I’ll never let you go.
I have been away
I haven’t been on tumblr for some time mostly because I lost the internet at my house but now i’m moved to florida and i’m back on it.
